Lotterywest Federation Walkway, Australia
Architect: Donaldson + Warn Architects
Client: Kings Park & Botanic Gardens
The Lotterywest Federation Walkway overlooks the city of Perth in Kings Park and is one of Australia’s most captivating landmarks, opened in August 2003 and one in a series of new buildings and structures erected all around Australia to celebrate the centennial of the Federation of States that constitute the Land of Plenty.
The Walkway extends 620 meters through the Botanic Garden along a combination of on-ground pathways and a spectacular elevated 52 meter glass and steel arched bridge suspended amongst a canopy of eucalypts. Kings Park is the most significant recreational parkland and urban bushland in Western Australia. The architects chose d line handrail for the daring steel structure with the glass balustrade that features the 120 meter long handrail
