Exhibition of Emerging Architecture
d line marvels at the wonderful display of prize winners and runners up at this year’s Exhibtion of Emerging Architecture in London
At this year’s exhibition of emerging architecture hosted by ar+d at the Royal Institute of British Architects, The Architectural Review and d line teamed up to present the winners and commended schemes.
The ar+d exhibition of emerging architecture opened on 23 November and d line and 20 guests were in attendance. The exhibition took place at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in London and was visited by about 160 invited guests.
The jury has chosen two first prize winners and four runners up and 10 schemes were highly commended. Encapsulating the fertility of architectural production in certain countries, six projects had a Japanese connection, while five were from Spain.
The displayed projects shrouded the event in a creative and inspiring atmosphere and made for a very nice and successful evening. 12 out of the 16 winners, runners up or highly commended architects attended the event.
The exhibition of the projects may be viewed as a collection of vignettes and delivers a message: Look at emerging architecture! These projects are worth doing and the young architects have a lot to offer. But the exhibition could lead to so much more with respect to forging new collaborations and innovative architectural design.
It has been decided that d line will continue as principal partner and sponsor of ar+d in 2012 and 2013, ensuring d line’s commitment to remaining a fixture on the architectural map, recognising and appreciating the work of the architect and not only focusing on hardcore "d line specs" but on architecture in general.
A BIG thank you goes out to our co-sponsors. They are, in no particular order; Keeler Hardware Pty Ltd., Carl F International Pvt. Ltd., Allgood Holdings Ltd., Evva Salto Access AB, ARCON, Total Building Solutions FZE, Euxos Diffusion, Carl Ras A/S.
We are very grateful for your generosity, which makes possible not only d line’sparticipation in the Awards Programme, but also the associated exhibition of winning entries and a series of lectures at the RIBA in London in collaboration with The Architectural Review and their sponsors.
Full details of the lecture series can be found in the forthcoming January issue of The Architectural Review.
